Yerseke Moer nature reserve

Discover the rich nature and history

Discover the Yerseke Moer, a unique 'hollow-bulb' Iconic Landscape and UNESCO Geosite formed by the sea. Thanks to a brand new experience route , you can now explore this historic area on foot or by bike, without disturbing the tranquility of nature. Be welcomed at the entrance by a 14th-century peat cutter and enjoy viewing point Postbrug, atmospheric picnic spots and the bird-watching screen along the way.

Indeed, the marshy area is a lively meeting place for nature: in spring, meadow birds such as the black-tailed godwit and the avocet nest here, while in winter thousands of geese flock here. Rare plants, such as the dense marsh grass, also flourish here again. To protect the birds, the heart of the area is open exclusively to hikers between July 15 and October 15. From the public road and via the bicycle route, the area is accessible all year round.
